About Us

Our Founder

Cindy Hebert: The Queen of Gumbo

Affectionately known as “The Queen of Gumbo,” Cindy Hebert is making her mark in the culinary world with her delicious, creative take on traditional Louisiana Cajun and Creole cuisine. A proud Gulf War veteran and native of Louisiana, Cindy brings heart, heritage, and purpose to every dish she creates.

Cindy’s Creole Kitchen (CCK) was founded by Cindy Hebert, a Gulf War veteran who proudly served during Operation Desert Storm. A native Louisiana with deep roots in Creole cooking, Cindy combined her culinary heritage and military service to create a mission-driven nonprofit that gives back to the veteran community.

During her military service, she oversaw dining operations for over 3,000 U.S. Army soldiers daily, mastering the art of feeding both stomachs and spirits. After relocating to Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Cindy turned her culinary passion into a mission to serve others—especially elderly, homebound, and homeless veterans and their families.

In 1992, Cindy founded Cindy’s Creole Kitchen, fusing cherished family recipes with professional expertise. What began as soulful home cooking has evolved into a powerful movement. In 2025, her mission was formally recognized as a nonprofit—CCK Inc.—dedicated to feeding underserved communities and giving back through the healing power of food.

CCK is more than a restaurant — it is a place of purpose. Every meal served funds programs that provide hot, nutritious food to elderly, homebound, and homeless veterans and their families across Texas. By blending authentic Creole flavors with heartfelt service, CCK brings dignity and compassion to those who have sacrificed so much.

From delivering meals to homebound veterans to hosting community outreach events, our goal is simple: no veteran should go hungry or feel forgotten. We believe food can heal, connect, and uplift — and at CCK, every plate served helps carry out that mission.

Cindy's flavorful legacy lives on through her cookbooks:

  • Cindy's Louisiana Home Cooking Vol. 2

  • Eating Healthy, Living Longer with Healthy Choices: The Healthy Recipe Book

Both are available now in Cindy’s Gift Store, where every purchase supports a greater cause—Helping Veterans One Meal at a Time.
