Cindy Hebert: The Queen of Gumbo
Affectionately known as “The Queen of Gumbo,” Cindy Hebert is making her mark in the culinary world with her delicious, creative take on traditional Louisiana Cajun and Creole cuisine. A proud Gulf War veteran and native of Louisiana, Cindy brings heart, heritage, and purpose to every dish she creates.
During her military service, she oversaw dining operations for over 3,000 U.S. Army soldiers daily, mastering the art of feeding both stomachs and spirits. After relocating to Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Cindy turned her culinary passion into a mission to serve others—especially elderly, homebound, and homeless veterans and their families.
In 1992, Cindy founded Cindy’s Creole Kitchen, fusing cherished family recipes with professional expertise. What began as soulful home cooking has evolved into a powerful movement. In 2025, her mission was formally recognized as a nonprofit—CCK Inc.—dedicated to feeding underserved communities and giving back through the healing power of food.
Cindy's flavorful legacy lives on through her cookbooks:
